These are the original marker portrait designs on white paper. I was preparing a portrait portfolio for a job interview (which I was fortunate enough to get the call back for 
) and I wanted some pieces that demonstrated my skill in drawing, as well as in illustrating. Thus started this still on-going production of this series of themed portraits. I have so many more themes in mind than what I've uploaded, so I think this is something I'm going to be working on for a while 
These portraits are generally very small in person- these ones on white in particular average between 3 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The newer ones are a little bigger.
They're done in Copic marker, mechanical pencil and white gel pen. These first ones on white paper were done just with warm grey markers; but as I keep doing them I introduce more and more colors. They're generally all desaturated colors to keep the antique looking theme, but when I post the more recent ones you'll notice a lot more pink coming into the works especially.
The first ones on white paper I did were while I was heavily channeling Alphonse Mucha, an amazing Art Nouveau artist- so you see a heavy design influence from his work in these. As I've worked on them more, the influence is still there but I've strayed in subject matter and design to something of my own style.
I incorporate mostly fantasy and feminine themes. Pretty much just anything pretty that interests me I use. Much like the Maleficent one I posted before, I also started doing a couple 'fanart' themes pieces with female characters I like.
These ones, while having their own themes were generally themed to be jewelry pendants, hence the subtitle.
"Femenagerie" is a series of copic marker illustrations I started early in 2012. The series is my way of exploring all things exquisite and expressing my desire to share this beauty with others; even if what I consider beauteous is not traditionally seen as such. Sensual, elegant, sublime and exotic- the women of "Femenagerie" are all uniquely inspired by a specific theme or character; and all represent a deep appreciation for the femininity and grace of womanhood.
